About Our Keynote Speaker:
Craig E. Samitt, M.D.
President & CEO of Dean Healthcare

Dr. Craig Samitt grew up and lived on the East Coast until 2006, when he moved to Wisconsin to become the President and CEO of Dean Clinic. After completing his Medical Degree from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York, and finishing his Internal Medicine clinical training at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Dr. Samitt returned to school to receive an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
In May 2012, Dr. Samitt was appointed to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), an influential independent agency that advises Congress about Medicare Policy. He is also a Chair Emeritus of the Group Practice Improvement Network (GPIN), a Co-Chair of the Patient Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC) Center for Accountable Care, a Director of the Wisconsin Statewide Health Information Network (WISHIN), and Vice-Chair of the Vision Council and Board Member of United Way of Dane County. Dr. Samitt is widely known for his broad experience across the healthcare industry, and lectures extensively about cultural transformation, accountable care, change management, physician engagement leadership, payment reform, and the future of healthcare. He has been designated as both an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist as well as a finalist for Modern Healthcare’s Top 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare.
Dr. Samitt lives in Middleton with his partner Steve and their three Bassett Hounds Burt, Otis, and Calvin. He likes lifting weights, hiking, hosting dinner parties for charities and friends, camping, cooking, and working through his bucket list by traveling the world.
