Join OPEN For Our
10TH ANNUAL DINNER
Friday, March 15th
at Monona Terrace, 1 John Nolen Drive
We invite you to join OPEN for our historic 10th Annual Dinner, a celebration of the work that OPEN has accomplished in networking with, building the development of, and advocating for LGBTQ+ individuals in our community. We have reached some key milestones in OPEN’s history in 2018 including holding a record number of events that engaged a broader base of the local LGBTQ+ community, reached a record number of members in our 10-year history, and began the important work of advocating for our community members.
This year we are pleased to welcome Congressman Mark Pocan as our keynote speaker. Mark has a long record as an effective progressive leader, taking his 14 years of experience in the Wisconsin State Assembly to Congress where he has continued to fight for progressive values. Mark came to Madison to attend college and shortly after earning a degree in journalism in 1986, opened up his own small business – a union printing company he continues to own and run today. His active years at UW- Madison in College Democrats led to his election in 1991 to the Dane County Board of Supervisors where he served Madison’s downtown community for three terms. In 1998, he was elected to succeed his long-time friend and ally Tammy Baldwin as the State Representative from the 78th District, when she left for Congress. He again succeeded Tammy Baldwin in the House of Representatives after she was elected to the United States Senate in 2012. Mark and his husband Phil run their print shop and live in the Town of Vermont, Wisconsin.
Madison’s very own radio personality, Aaron Rogers, will emcee with music provided by DJ Nick Nice. We will also honor the 2018 OPEN Community Grant Recipient, Queen Climb Social and award the 2019 OPEN Community Grant Recipient. New this year we will announce the first OPEN 2019 Community Advocate Award Winner.
