We do not tolerate harassment of any participants in any form. Harassing language and imagery is not appropriate for events, including talks, workshops, networking events, or any event organized by OPEN. OPEN members/event attendees violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from OPEN without a refund at the discretion of the OPEN board.

Harassment includes offensive verbal/nonverbal comments related to age, ancestry, color, ethnicity, creed, disability, marital or relationship status, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, membership, physical appearance, body size, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, sustained disruption of talks or other events, and inappropriate physical contact.

Need Help?

Ask to speak with an event organizer or board member if you are attending an event and witness or are a victim of a Code of Conduct violation.  If you prefer to report a Code of Conduct violation via email or phone please follow the “Reporting Code of Conduct Violations” below.

Consequences:

If an OPEN member/event attendee is found to be behaving outside of the Code of Conduct, the member/event attendee may receive a warning from the Executive Board via email, phone, or in person. If the offender continues to behave in a manner that violates the OPEN Code of Conduct or if the violation is found to be deserving, they may have their membership revoked and/or denied access to any future OPEN related events.

Reporting Code of Conduct Violations:

Code of Conduct violations may be reported by members, event attendees, sponsors, venue staff, or any other individual to the OPEN Board by emailing info@openmadison.org or reaching out to an individual OPEN Board member. All reports will be confidential and will be investigated in a timely manner.

The Executive Board must vote unanimously for revocation of membership on any OPEN member found in violation of the Code of Conduct.  All decisions by the Board are final.
